Photography & FIlmmaking
From Landscapes of the pacific Northwest to Chimpanzees of the north georgia Mountains!
My photographic jounrney began as a kid in a darkroom where I was a lab assistant for the local college and led to a brief stint at kits camera to help with the holiday rush. I was also showing my work in galleries. I was recruited by lenswork publishing and worked their for three years producing the magazine and the digital product lenswork extended. I was exposed to well known photographers touching up their work for publication and studied under several at the Pacific Northwest Art School including Bruce Barnbaum. I am known for interviewing the last of the black-and-white film photographers in their darkrooms and workspaces.
My love of motion photography came watching my grandfather’s trick photography as a kid. I inherited his film cameras and because of a missionary trip to mexico that turned sideways, I became interested in the importance of storyteller and became a filmmaker. Read more about that here and stay tuned for the full story in my memoir. I was director of photography for several independent movies including Fixed Income and studied at the University of California at Santa Cruz, Vancouver Film School and The Banff Centre. Living on whidbey island for 40+ years, I pay homage to the soldiers in my life and debuted my movie Sounds of Freedom at the New York Web Fest on veterans day in 2017.
WHen I moved across country I discovered project chimps and became their resident photographer and movie maker. You can find my work on the Project CHimps YouTube and through social Media.
